Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Red light therapy uses two specific wavelengths of light — red (660 nm) and near-infrared (880 nm) — that pass through the skin into the tissue underneath. Your cells absorb that light and use it to make more of their own energy (ATP), which supports the body’s normal repair and circulation. Patients commonly use it for nerve discomfort, foot pain, and sluggish circulation in the hands and feet.

  • In general, the lights should not be folded or stepped on as that can damage the light which is not covered under warranty.
  • Lights should be properly rolled and stored back in their packaging for proper care.

Results can vary from patient to patient. Some patients experience noticeable results after the first treatment while others can take a few weeks to see results.

Half of the lights on the footlight are red light (660nm) which is visible to the naked eye while the other half are infrared light (880nm) which is not visible.

It shouldn’t hurt at all. The light is gentle and doesn’t generate the kind of heat that burns skin — most people feel a mild warmth, nothing more. It’s designed for at-home use with simple controls and a built-in timer.

Most patients begin to notice changes — less burning, tingling, or numbness, or warmer, more comfortable feet — within 2 to 6 weeks of consistent daily use. Some feel a difference sooner; others need a couple of months. Daily consistency matters more than session length.

A typical schedule is once or twice a day for about 20–30 minutes per session. The devices have a built-in timer — set it and relax.

The Legacy LED Lightpad is a flexible pad with 120 LEDs that wraps around almost any body area — feet, hands, knees, lower back, abdomen. The Pro Series Footlight is built specifically for the feet and lower legs, with 180 LEDs plus pulsed magnetic technology. If your symptoms are mostly in your feet, the Footlight is the more targeted choice. If you have symptoms in multiple areas, the flexible Lightpad is more versatile.

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy delivers gentle, painless magnetic pulses that work alongside the light to support circulation and tissue recovery. You won’t feel them. It’s a layered approach — light works at the cellular energy level and the magnetic pulses support blood flow and tissue response.

Yes — the Legacy LED Lightpad and Pro Series foot pad are FDA-cleared, and the underlying red and near-infrared wavelengths (660 nm and 880 nm) have been studied in published clinical research for circulation and discomfort.

A few situations warrant a check with your provider first: pregnancy; a pacemaker, defibrillator, or other implanted device (especially with the Pro Series Footlight, which adds magnetic technology); an active cancer diagnosis; medications that make your skin extra sensitive to light; and skin conditions, open wounds, or recent injections in the area you’d treat.

In most cases, yes. Red light therapy is meant to complement — not replace — what you’re already doing. Don’t stop or change any prescription on your own; your provider will guide that.

It’s a blend designed to support nerve health. The main ingredients are alpha lipoic acid (an antioxidant that protects nerves from oxidative stress); benfotiamine (a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 with better absorption than regular B1); methylcobalamin (the active form of B12, which supports the protective coating around nerves); L-methylfolate (active folate that supports healthy methylation); and vitamin B6.

Most people tolerate it well. A few things to know: alpha lipoic acid can sometimes lower blood sugar slightly, so if you take diabetes medication your provider may want to monitor your numbers. If you take a thyroid medication, take it at a different time of day than this supplement. Bring the bottle to your next visit so your provider can check it against everything else you take.

Supplements work gradually. Many patients feel small changes around the 4-week mark, with more noticeable benefit by 8 to 12 weeks of consistent daily use. Skipping doses sets the clock back, so daily consistency matters.

They work in different ways and many patients use them together for that reason — the device delivers energy at the tissue level, and the supplement supports nerve health from the inside. That said, plenty of patients start with just one, see how their body responds, then add the other if they want more support. Your provider can help you decide where to start.

The formula uses L-citrulline, L-arginine, pine bark extract, and ginger to support healthy blood flow. Because those ingredients work on circulation, it’s important to check with your provider before combining it with blood pressure medication, nitrates (like nitroglycerin), or ED medication (like sildenafil or tadalafil) — these all act on the same blood-flow pathway and the combination needs medical oversight.

It depends on the cause. For ongoing conditions like diabetic neuropathy, most patients move into a maintenance routine — using the device a few times a week and continuing the supplement at a steady dose — because stopping completely can let symptoms creep back. For temporary issues like recovery from an injury, you may be able to step down once you’re back to normal. Your provider will tailor the plan to you.
